MINISTRIES WITH CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES
Each child is a unique and special member of God’s family. Children are a vital part of our faith community. They help make the decisions that drive our ministries with children and their families both inside and outside the church. We have recently added a Children’s Ministry Director to our staff. She and our Children’s Council work together to lead the congregation in its ministries involving children. We strive to create new and exciting ministries that help children understand the importance of making God the center of their lives.
We ALWAYS emphasize the loving nature of God. Our Children’s Council believes that children should be encouraged to lead a mission-minded life, so much of what we do is mission oriented. The children experience various opportunities to experience and share God’s love with others in the community and around the world.
Weekly Ministries:
Sunday School is a BLAST! (Sundays at 9:40; Age 3-Grade 6)
In fact, we call it BLAST (Biblical Learning Adventure Stations)
Our Sunday School format is very different from the traditional one that most churches use. BLAST is based on the rotation model, which is very child-friendly and emphasizes our belief that each child is unique and has different ways of learning. This model allows them to tap into the learning styles that best suit them. It also allows teachers to select the areas in which they excel.
Every six weeks, we select a different Bible story, and the children rotate to a different adventure station and experience the story in a new way. Our stations include: Cooking, Storytelling, Art, Music, Games, & Science.
We have seen a marked increase in Sunday School attendance over the past several months, because kids WANT to come! They love BLAST!
Children’s Church (Sundays during 10:50 Service; Age 4-Grade 2)
Children’s Church allows children to experience a “mini” worship service that is designed especially for them. They learn about the basic elements of a worship service and also enjoy related games and crafts. Children’s Church helps prepare the children for the time they will begin attending the full worship service in “big church”.
Nursery (Sundays; Age 2 and under)
We offer childcare on Sunday mornings during both worship services and the Sunday School hour. Our nursery is staffed with people who LOVE to care for our youngest guests and members. You will find them to be very accommodating and understanding of your child’s needs.
