The Society of the Servant

David is wondering if there would be interest in forming a small group of people who would be willing to meet once a week at 7:00am to study and pray:
· To see the mystical link between the poor and Christ.
· To examine our own lives to see how we may learn to live life more simply
· How to break the grip of consumerism which is slowly choking out Christ’s Holy Spirit from within us,
· To grow spiritually in our relationship with God as experienced in and through the poor.
· Learn what it means to walk in the footsteps of Christ.
· And to be servants of Christ, wherever that takes us.

David envisions us meeting weekly on a weekday morning at 7:00am for 45 minutes to an hour. We could begin with five minutes of prayer, have a ten minute devotion led by a lay person, and then a 30-minute study on the life of Mother Teresa, Francis of Assisi, “Journey I Inward/Journey Outward” or outside witness (Mennonite couple). We would end
with prayer and contemplation in the Sanctuary.

If you are interested, or would be interested if it was at another time, please sign up on the sign up sheet on the ushers’ table.

Holy Week…April 1st- 8th!

Holy Week is truly special and unique at Skiatook First UMC. The Services of Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday,
Good Friday and Easter are always very, very powerful and meaningful for folks. As a Christian, these are the
“MUST SEE” Services of the year. So set your calendar for Sunday morning April 1 at 8:30 or 10:50am for
Palm Sunday; Thursday, April 5th at 6:00pm for Maundy Thursday and the reenactment of the Last Supper; and
Good Friday, we will offer our “Interactive Stations of the Cross” which was so powerful last year. And, of course,
we always have special services on Easter Morning. Come and walk with Jesus, from the Last Supper, through
His death, to His resurrection at Skiatook FUMC.
